The Apprentice will participate in a paid apprenticeship program sponsored by Dart Container in Thomaston GA. The selected candidate will work as an apprentice in the maintenance & engineering department supporting plastics manufacturing, technical services and production needs. Additionally, the apprentice will attend the local Technical College to complete a paid 3-4 year program in Industrial Systems & Technology with a focus in industrial maintenance and electrical trade skills. Upon successful completion of the program, the apprentice will transition into a skill specific industrial maintenance position within Dart Container at the Thomaston GA location.



  • Complete assigned school curriculum by semester, at a high level of excellence and complete all regularly scheduled shifts within Dart Container's performance standards, business needs, and time & attendance policies.

  • Maintain good academic standing throughout the duration of program participation.

  • Will be provided with, and expected to adhere to, a regimented on-the-job training program that will complement the apprenticeship's program curriculum.

  • Will be expected to showcase proficiency by completing "skills assessment tests" to verify learned skills that are reinforced with education and on-the-job training.

  • New skills learned, and verified will result in an increase in duties and responsibilities towards the plant, and an increase in pay. 

  • Will be assigned a variety of maintenance & technical services task in support of plant operations, and maintenance programs as part of on-the-job training.

  • Safely and timely perform routine and non-routine equipment maintenance as directed, to maximize product quality and efficiency.

  • Maintain equipment, work areas, and departmental cleanliness while eliminating safety hazards.

  • Comply with all safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.

  • Perform other duties within the employee's training and skills as directed by the supervisor and/or manager.



  • No supervisory responsibilities




    • Must provide high school transcripts with 3.0 GPA or higher. College transcripts (if applicable) may be used in lieu of High School Transcript with same 3.0 GPA requirement.


    • Ability to work overtime as needed

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to allow for changes in class schedules (days or nights)

    • High School Diploma or GED required.

    • One (1) year of manufacturing experience required, plastics industry preferred.

    • Skilled Trades certifications, college experience, and similar work experience may be used in place of manufacturing experience requirement.

    • A strong desire to learn manufacturing maintenance & electrical systems and to provide excellent customer service to internal & external clients.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
