Bus Driver

DESCRIPTION: Bus Driver APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Apply online QUALIFICATIONS: Education ? standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program
General ? Driver's license must be a Commercial Drivers License, with additional passenger and school bus endorsements
Must submit to and pass an annual school bus drivers physical examination, including random drug/alcohol testing.
Must meet any other qualifications set by the Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Department of Driver Services and the state and local Board of Education policies.
Must have and maintain a safe driving record. GOAL: Transport students daily in a professional manner, and promote and practice safety PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Know and follow all policies and procedures of the Thomaston-Upson County Board of Education, Georgia Department of Transportation, and Georgia Department of Driver Services. Adhere to guidelines set forth in the Transportation Department's handbook 2. Drive any bus assigned and allow assigned bus to be used as deemed necessary by the Transportation Director or his designee 3. Accept route changes when deemed necessary by the Director, in a positive, teamwork-oriented manner. 4. Follow established policy of the Board of Education and Director with regard to the proper use of leave time. 5. Assist the Director or his designee in emergency situations which involve transporting students, use of bus, etc. 6. Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position. 7. Follow work schedule and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner, demonstrating prompt and regular attendance as well as the ability to adapt to an extended/flexible work schedule. 8. Participate in training programs as required to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment. 9. Ensure adherence to good and appropriate safety procedures. 10. Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities. 11. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives. 12. Perform other duties as assigned.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
